  1.  Professor Jonathon Benger

Professor of Emergency Care and Director of the Bristol Academic Department of Emergency care. Consultant in Emergency Medicine at University Hospitals, Bristol with a clinical practice in Pre-Hospital Care with South Western Ambulance Service Trust. His key research interests relate to cardiac arrest, airway management, early diagnostic technologies, workforce, design research and pre-hospital care. He leads a large multidisciplinary team, and over the past 6 years has been an applicant  or co-applicant on 20 successful grant applications with a total value in excess of £8million (the majority of this funding coming from the National Institute for Health Research). He has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, and has given many national and international presentations. Jonathan is the joint winner of two Silver IDEAs, in the 2012 and 2013 International Design Excellence Awards, for collaborative design research projects in pre-hospital care.

2. Associate Professor Stevan Bruijn

Currently a Consultant Emergency Physician at Yeovil District Hospital. Having been one of the first students to hold a degree in Emergency Medicine in South Africa he has previously worked  in resource-rich and resource-poor settings around the world. Associate Professor in EM at          Cape Town University Hospital, editor for the African Journal of EM and a member of the Royal  College of Emergency Medicine Global Health Committee. Interests include quality    improvement, emergency care development and research access in African low resourced settings.

3. Dr Edd Carlton

Consultant Emergency Physician at North Bristol NHS Trust with a particular interest in the early diagnosis and assessment of patients with chest pain who has conducted research trials in the field of acute cardiology. An expert on hypertropinaemia he is currently Chief Investigator for the LoDED trial – Limit of Detection of Troponin and ECG Discharge strategy versus usual care in adult chest pain patients attending the Emergency Department.

     4.  Dr Stephen Davies

Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Salisbury District Hospital with first hand clinical knowledge of the recent novichok exposure events in Salisbury.

     5. Dr Stevan Emmett

Consultant in Pharmaceutical Medicine at the MOD Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Porton Down) with a principle role in CBRN defence research. He remains clinically active with regular shifts at the RUH Emergency Department.

     6. Dr James Gagg

Consultant Emergency Physician at Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust (Musgrove Park). He is actively involved in research in the field of Emergency Medicine and oversees a growing portfolio of clinical studies taking place in Taunton.

     7.  Dr Mark Lyttle

Consultant and Senior Research Fellow in Paediatric Emergency Medicine at University Hospitals Bristol. He collaborates with paediatric research teams  around the world and oversees a large and expanding portfolio of paediatric research covering areas from paediatric trauma to sepsis management, wheezy children, chest radiograph use and abuse and the management of status epilepticus.

      8. Professor Jerry Nolan

Consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine at the Royal United Hospital, Bath and Honorary Professor of Resuscitation Medicine at the University of Bristol. He is Chair of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), past Chair of the Resuscitation Council (UK), and the immediate past Co-Chair of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). He received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Cardiac Resuscitation Science from the American Heart Association in 2016. Jerry is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Resuscitation. Jerry’s research interests are in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway management, and post-cardiac arrest treatment – he has authored over 300 original papers, reviews and editorials on these topics.

 9. Dr Adam Reuban

Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He is actively involved in research in the field of Emergency Medicine with a particular interest in procedural sedation, the management of re-entrant tachycardia and novel uses for tranexamic acid. He is also the doctor for Exeter Chiefs RFU team and their 7th reserve prop.

10. Surgeon Captain Jason Smith, Royal Navy

Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Derriford Hospital in 2005. Jason is an Honorary Professor at Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, and is also currently the Defence Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine in Birmingham. His current research interests include pain in emergency patients, the management of blast injuries and the management of major trauma.
